Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
rimavely (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us"), registration number 2014/318476/07, VAT number 4820176593, operates the rimavely hotel at 34 Huguenot Road, Franschhoek, Western Cape, 7690. We are the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our information officer is registered with the Information Regulator and can be reached at [email protected] or on +27 21 876 3402.
2. Personal information we collect
We collect only what you submit through our contact form (your name, email address, the dates you are enquiring about and the message you send), the booking and billing details you give us when you reserve a room, and basic technical information your browser provides (IP address, user agent, pages viewed). Where a stay requires it, we also record the guest-register details that the Western Cape and national tourism regulations oblige a hotel to keep. We do not buy or sell personal information, and we do not process special personal information or the information of children.
3. Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and to make, change or cancel a booking — processing necessary to conclude and perform a contract with you (section 11(1)(b) of POPIA).
- To operate, secure and improve this website, with optional analytics set only on your consent (section 11(1)(a)).
- To comply with our legal obligations, including tax and record-keeping duties owed to SARS and guest-register requirements (section 11(1)(c)).
4. Retention and security
We keep contact-form messages for up to 24 months and booking and billing records for five years, as required by South African tax and company legislation. Server logs are kept for up to 90 days. Personal information is stored on servers hosted in South Africa; if a service provider ever needs to process it outside the Republic, we apply the safeguards required by section 72 of POPIA. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, and we will notify you and the Information Regulator of a compromise as section 22 requires.
5. Your rights
Under sections 23, 24 and 25 of POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and you may object to processing on reasonable grounds. You may also lodge a request under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA). To do any of this, email [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at [email protected].
